The event brought together partners actively involved in the Excel4Pro HUB, including representatives from NTUA, JOTIS, and PRINSUS. Additional insights were contributed by esteemed experts, including Prof. Eleni Kavetsou from the Agricultural University of Athens, Dr. Konstantina Kaplani from REZOS Brands, and Mr. Ioannis Papadimitriou from Soya Hellas, enriching the discussions with their extensive knowledge of agriculture, food production, and the plant-based industry.

During the workshop, participants conducted a SWOT analysis to evaluate the sector comprehensively. Among the key strengths identified was a clear societal shift toward healthier food choices, highlighting a growing consumer demand for plant-based alternatives. The discussion also highlighted significant opportunities, such as leveraging the economic and environmental impacts of climate change, as well as the strong global momentum favoring plant-based foods and sustainable diets.

Conversely, the analysis identified several weaknesses, notably concerns regarding taste, limited product availability, and higher costs, which continue to challenge consumer adoption. Additionally, a major threat discussed was the sector’s reliance on imported raw materials, posing risks for both supply chain stability and national production scalability.

The workshop fostered active dialogue and knowledge exchange among participants, providing a valuable platform to align national strategies and future initiatives for the growth of plant-based proteins in Greece.
