DESCRIPTION:The Excel4Pro Summer School on “Bioprocessing Approaches for Plant-Based Protein Systems” is a five-day intensive training program designed to combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on training in bioprocess development. \nOrganized under the Horizon Europe-funded Excel4Pro project\, the program aims to strengthen professional competencies\, foster research-oriented thinking\, and enhance employability in the field of industrial and applied biotechnology for early-stage researchers. \nHosted by the Institute of Biotechnology at Gebze Technical University\, with contributions from Sartorius\, the summer school integrates structured theoretical instruction with intensive laboratory-based training. Participants will gain practical experience in fermentation processes\, bioreactor operation\, process monitoring\, and data-driven bioprocess analysis\, preparing them for both academic research and industry-oriented careers. \nThe program is specifically designed for highly motivated PhD students and early-stage researchers seeking to develop practical expertise in fermentation technology and bioprocess engineering. Due to laboratory infrastructure and equipment capacity limitations\, participation in the hands-on training sessions is restricted to a limited number of trainees. \nProgram Structure\nThe Excel4Pro Summer School follows a modular structure\, combining hybrid theoretical lectures with hands-on laboratory training. \nDAY 1-2: HYBRID THEORETICAL LECTURE SERIES \nAs part of the Excel4Pro Summer School\, the first two days of the program are offered as a Hybrid Theoretical Lecture Series\, allowing a broader audience to benefit from the theoretical components of the training. While registered summer school participants will attend these sessions on-site as part of the full program\, external participants are welcome to join the lectures online\, free of charge \nThe Hybrid Theoretical Lecture Series covers key topics in fermentation technology and bioprocessing approaches\, including: \n\nFermentation-based modification of plant protein ingredients\nMicroorganisms and substrates used in bioprocesses\nBioreactor design and operational strategies\nProcess optimization\, control and monitoring techniques\n\nPlease note that participation in the Hybrid Theoretical Lecture Series does not include access to the hands-on laboratory training sessions\, which are reserved exclusively for selected summer school participants. \nDAY 3-5: HANDS-ON LABORATORY TRAININGS (ON-SITE) \nThe practical component focuses on developing essential laboratory skills through guided\, hands-on laboratory activities. DESCRIPTION:Excel4Pro Acceleration Programme – Call for Applications \nAccelerate Your FoodTech Innovation with Excel4Pro\nAre you developing an innovative solution in the FoodTech or agri-food sector?  \nThe Excel4Pro Acceleration Programme is designed to support entrepreneurs\, researchers\, start-ups and innovation-driven teams in developing promising FoodTech solutions and strengthening their pathway towards validation\, commercialisation and market uptake.  \nOrganised within the Horizon Europe-funded Excel4Pro project\, the programme combines entrepreneurship and sector-specific training\, tailored mentoring\, expert support and a final Demo Day\, bringing participants together with expertise from across the Excel4Pro consortium and the wider FoodTech innovation ecosystem.  \nThe programme will be implemented through two acceleration cycles. Applications are now invited for the first cycle of the Excel4Pro Acceleration Programme. \nFocus Areas \nApplications should demonstrate clear relevance to FoodTech and/or agri-food innovation. The programme particularly welcomes solutions addressing areas such as:  \n\nPlant-Based Proteins and Novel Foods; \nFood Processing and Product Development; \nAgri-Food Innovation; \nBioprocessing and Fermentation Technologies; \nDigital and Enabling Technologies for FoodTech; \nSustainable Food Technologies and Packaging; \nOther innovative technologies and solutions supporting the FoodTech and agri-food ecosystem. \n\n\nWho Can Apply? \nThe programme is open to: \n\nIndividual entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial teams; \nResearchers and research teams; \nStudents and student teams; \nStart-ups and spin-offs; \nSMEs developing innovative solutions relevant to the FoodTech and agri-food sectors. \n\nApplicants do not need to have an incorporated company at the time of application.  \nThe programme primarily targets participants from the three core Excel4Pro hubs Türkiye\, Greece and Ukraine while applications from other European countries are also welcome.  \nThe programme particularly encourages early-stage innovations\, including solutions at idea\, proof-of-concept\, prototype and MVP stages.  \nSolutions within Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3–6 constitute the programme’s primary target.
